Simon Berkfinger is up to his neck in debt.

The former Philadelphia Grand Jury frontman has started a new band called Feelings. It features the dashing Dave Rennick from Dappled Cities and Art vs. Science's human metronome, Dan Williams.

"After the last band broke up, I was staying on my friends' living room floor and only writing grunge tunes," says Berkfinger. "I deleted most of them. Now it's more freaky. Freaky grunge if anything. But I'd rather talk about Brian Eno than Kurt Cobain."

Berkfinger has also spent the past ten years making a name for himself as a producer. Last year he left Australia and started up a new studio in Germany. Golden Retriever has already opened its doors to Germans, Britons, Americans, New Zealanders and Israelis, as well as Australian acts like Step Panther, Velociraptor and DZ Deathrays.

The debut Feelings album is due out mid-2013. The second single is "Intercourse". Cowritten with Michael Tomlinson (Yves Klein Blue), it's a sexpop number guaranteed to turn strangers into friends.

Feelings is touring Australia in February.
